iPhone app reviews: Screen Cleaner

I did not expect an app from the iTunes store to effectively clean my iPhone's screen for me, but what do I know? There is an app called Screen Cleaner that sounds like it would do just that. Except - it doesn't. At first, I thought that it would be a good idea to try this app. Knowing that there is a free version of it, I chose that one instead of the paid version. After all, I did not want to waste 99 cents of my hard earned money on an app I may or may not enjoy.

This was perhaps the first and only time that I did not bother to read the developer's description of the game and instead just clicked on the "download" button. Knowing that it was free, I knew I didn't have to bother. Looking back on that action now, I realize that I probably should have. I have probably wasted more than 5 minutes on this app, and as we all know: time is money.

At any rate, if I had to rate this app from 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, I would give Screen Cleaner a 2 at best. First of all, Screen Cleaner is not what you would expect it to be. (Of course, expecting any app to clean your phone's screen is absurd.) Anyway, the misnomer leads me to believe that even the cutesy images of dogs licking my phone's screen does not make the paid app's price of 99 cents even worth it. I love dogs and I could stare at a dog licking a screen the whole day, but I do not want to have to pay for that.

I would say that this app is pointless, but I do not want to be too harsh on the developers. After all, they did spend enough time adding so many cute dogs that they probably thought they were right in thinking about the creation of this app. But, I am not trying to pat them on the back; any person could become an app developer, if that were the case, and make a few extra bucks selling apps that do nothing. In that case, I cannot give any praise to the developer of Screen Cleaner at all. This app may be great for kids, but even then I would have better apps for them to use.

All in all, I do not recommend Screen Cleaner - even the free version.
