Five foundations of a Christian worldview

One's worldview affects choices, opinions, lifestyle and virtually everything else. Traditionally, a worldview is the question of one's origin, purpose, the problem with the world they live in, and the answer to that problem. The Christian angle is no different. Although opinions may vary from denomination to denomination, the core beliefs are usually the same. In summary, this is to love and fear God and to faithfully follow all of His commandments.

The core of the Christian perspective on life is the belief in sovereignty of God the Father, the deity of his one and only son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit (also implying the authority of the Holy Bible). The book of Genesis in the Bible tells us that God created the heavens and the earth in six days, and rested on the seventh. On the sixth day man was created in God's image from the dust. Later, God created woman from man to be his perfect companion.

The second question is that of our purpose here on earth. According to the Bible, as Christians, we are here to worship and glorify God. We are also given many commandments. The chief of these is the Great Commission at the end of the Gospel of Matthew, where we are commanded to go into the world and make disciples. Therefore we are all called to share our faith with the world as we go along in life.

The Bible tells us that Satan, once the greatest of angels now fallen, tempted Eve, the first woman, to eat the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. She ate it and brought it to Adam, the first man, who did the same. And so sin entered the world. Today, the world is dark place full of lies, greed, violence, jealousy, adultery, and sexual immoralityall of which we are commanded to avoid.

The Christian answer to this problem is faith. The gospels tell us that God sent His one and only son, who lived out a sinless life, to be crucified on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of all the people in the world. In order to be saved one must confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that he was raised from the dead. In the end Satan and his followers will be punished, and the world will be made anew, while those who believed will be forgiven and held blameless.

The Christian world view is laid out by the Bible, the ultimate Christian guide. God created man. Man disobeyed God and created sin in the world. In this fallen word, God sent his one and only son to die on the cross for our sins, so that we may believe in Him and receive eternal life with Him in perfection. Above all, we are to love and fear God, and faithfully follow his commandments.
