How to plan a Thanksgiving cruise vacation

People who are used to hosting the big Thanksgiving Dinner bash every year know how exhausting and labor intensive the undertaking can be. A good way to get out of having to do that is to have someone else do all of the work for you. A cruise vacation can do that and a whole lot more.

Taking a cruise vacation over the Thanksgiving holiday is a great idea because the rates won't have increased to the higher rates that are charged over the Christmas holiday. There are several important things to consider when planning a cruise vacation. Here is a look at those considerations.

*Who will be traveling?

In order to plan a cruise that will be appropriate for everyone who is traveling, it is necessary to know who will be among your group. If kids are traveling on the cruise, you will want to investigate different cruises than you would consider if only adults were traveling. You will want to make sure that the cruise has age appropriate activities that will entertain the children and ensure that they enjoy the trip.

*The port from which you leave -

The port you leave from is an important consideration because it will have a direct bearing on the price. It will also have a bearing on where the ship will travel. You also have to make sure that you can easily get to the place from which the ship is going to leave.

*Destination -

Other than the ship on which you travel, the other most important consideration is where the ship is traveling. The longer the cruise, the more ports of call you will be able to visit, but that will also increase the cost of the cruise significantly. You will need a passport for most locations, too.

*Accommodations -

Different ships and different cruise lines have varying types of accommodations. Once again, of course, a lot will depend on how much you are willing to pay. The more you are willing to pay, the better your accommodations will be, and that will also mean a bigger room in a better part of the ship.

*Type of cruise -

The type of cruise can vary as well. The Norwegian Cruise Line, for example, offers freestyle cruising on the newest and largest ships of their fleet. Freestyle cruising is much more informal than more traditional cruises. These ships have at least ten restaurants from which passengers can choose to eat.

These are the most important things to consider when planning a cruise. The length of time you spend on the cruise, the number of ports you visit, and the type of cruise and the accommodations, entertainment and activities will all factor into the total cost. Most cruises offer all inclusive packages, however, and because of all of the different types of dining options, it will be much easier to please everyone's food tastes.
