Does sex cure headaches

by Carrie Fleharty

"I'm sorry I can't tonight I have a headache." A phrase that happens to be the brunt of many jokes, and usually refers to the wife who doesn't want to have sex. If the truth be told, then we would find that sex actually is very good in helping to heal headaches. I bet you are sitting right there thinking that's a bunch of bull.

There have been many tests being conducted on headaches. They are looking into the causes and the remedies of headaches. The causes are many, but the remedies are few. Some of the same remedies are given for the many different types of headaches. What would you prefer? A natural cure, or taking lots of pain pills. The choice is yours, but don't make that choice without some natural remedies.

One reason we have headaches is that the flow of blood becomes restricted. The blood vessels in the neck, head or brain constrict and then that will cause the flow of blood to the head. This restriction brings about the throb of pain which we feel, and is called a headache. One of the effects of pills is that the chemicals in that pill will open up the blood vessels. The goal really is to relax the blood vessels and open up the flow of blood to the head.

Louise Hay, a well known teacher on self-healing firmly believes that headaches are caused by fear and self-criticism. She also states that headaches are you resisting life. In fact you are resisting the flow of life. The other aspects of the cause of headaches according to Hay is that you dislike being driven, and are not validating the self. She truly believes and feels that sexual activity can help validate your sense of self, and open yourself up to the flow of life. In fact she even suggests that when you have a migraine that many times the pain can be relieved by masturbation. What does that suggest?

Sex opens up the blood vessels of our bodies and creates more blood flow in the body. The blood vessels open up during sex, and that causes the blood to flow more easily to the head. With sex you also relax more, while you are relaxed then the more easily the blood flows.

Headaches and migraines are a nuisance, and very painful. Why not do something for yourself? If you are in a monogamous relationship, then use sex to rid the pain of those headaches. It's a win-win situation. There is nothing wrong with a little loving validation, and sex is one way to get just that. If you are not with a partner, then self-stimulation is second best. Your head will thank you, and defintely no more exsuses from the "Not now dear, I have a headache" statment.
