Christmas 2009. When many of us were elementary school children that would have sounded like the title for a science fiction novel set in the future. As a child in grade four or 5 we were asked to write essays on what life would be like in the year 2000 and beyond. The essays were filled with predictions of robots being used for menial tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and working in factories which have all somewhat come true. We now have bread-makers that stir, knead, shape, raise, and bake our bread. We have something called a Roomba that skims the floor and picks up dirt on its own. And unfortunately as many people know we now have robots in factories doing the job that living, breathing, working humans once did. One thing we have not done thus far into the 21st century that was predicted by some wishful-thinking children, sadly was to cure all disease.
Modern medicine has for years and years spent money on research and came up with many, many drugs and chemicals to treat many ailments. But very few cures have been found and in fact there seem to be many more diseases ocurring than ever before. People are starting to realize this and many have decided to seek help for their ailments in more forms than just going to the doctor and getting a prescription to treat yet another ailment.
Holistic Health is the healing of mind, body, and soul. It is both an art and a science and works on finding the cause of your disease or ailment and healing it through a variety of methods. Holistic healing should be thought of as a journey where one discovers their own path to well-being by striving to create balance in the whole self, rather than a band-aid to stop a symptom.
Many people have learned the benefits of holistic healing sadly through the disappointment of going to the doctor to be healed of a symptom, only to get more sick by the "treatment" given them in the form of pill or medicine. In desperation they turn to a more natural, kinder way of healing, and many are seeing that it works.
Christmas is a time to show love and appreciation to those we keep close to our hearts. We give gifts to our family, friends, co-workers, and those who we feel deserve something special like our postman, hairdresser, babysitter or teacher. What better way to show your love and appreciation than a gift of good health?
Before going out and buying a gift of this type, it is wise to do a bit of research in order to best choose the right holistic health method for your loved one. Here
