Teens these days have so much to face regarding their physical, mental, and emotional health that sometimes it can be hard to cope on their own. There are many books available for parents to give their teens addressing issues such as stress and anxiety, sexuality, self mutilation, obesity and eating disorders as well as many other topics. Today, we will be addressing the "Instant Help" series available from the publisher 'Instant Help Books,' a line of workbooks designed for teens to work on their own or in accord with a counselor. The "Instant Help" series has emerged in the form of
workbooks allowing teens to go through various "Instant Help" programs.
'Stopping The Pain' deals with self-mutilation and helps teens and their counselors figure out the root of their extremely dangerous behavior, as well as figure out how to develop a program that gives them a way of escape form their pain. The book begins with a series of exercises geared toward understanding the truths behind why they self-injure and debunking the myths. Later Chapters help them tackle self-esteem issues as well as identify and disarm the triggers that lead to the self-injury. It guides them to try and open up and learn to cope with the troubling emotions that lead to this type of acting out and eventually how to effectively embrace change.
'What's Eating You? A Workbook for Teens With Anorexia, Bulimia and Other Eating Disorders' deals with the relationship a teen forms with food and how the need to control what they eat can become destructive. Each worksheet contains questions and exercises targeting cultural myths, perfectionism, stress and lack of self-confidence that all contribute to a dysfunctional relationship with food. Once these issues are addressed, the teen can move on and learn to gather the strength they need to make peace with their body, exude confidence and lead a healthier lifestyle. This book addresses all sorts of behaviors linked to eating disorders such as bingeing, purging, excessive dieting, and relentless exercising.
'Beyond the Blues: A Workbook to Help Teens Overcoming Depression' is a workbook that helps teens who are overwhelmed with sadness and hopelessness.
