HUMOR: UNCERTAINTY

When I saw this subject heading I thought oh dear I cannot decide whether I am uncertain or not. What do I say about this when I cannot be sure? The truth of the matter is that I have spent years dithering and being uncertain about big things and small things alike. You can understand caution and uncertainly regarding something as vital as who to marry or which house to buy, but I am just as scared of commitment when it comes to which bar of chocolate to choose. Then one goes onto the Helium website and sees hundreds if not thousands of subject headings to choose from, the choice is absolutely mind boggling, just staggering, and it can give you a headache trying to decide which one to write for. You have to either just write under the first title you see, or spend hours dithering about it, or write under loads of different titles so that all bases are covered.

Just today I could not decide what colour to wear. It was a huge decision as a friend was coming over for a coffee morning and there is no way I am happy to meet up with her wearing the wrong colour. As it was such a massive decision I spent a good hour pondering over it, then tossed a coin and decided that way. Of course, I never divulged to my friend about the agony of not being sure about the colour, she has her own worries and problems and might have thought it quite trivial in comparison. Then I went to the shop to buy a newspaper and guess what. For the life of me I could not decide which one to buy, I was in a quandry and stood there scratching my head puzzled for quite a while. It was a massive decision but somehow I got through it, chose one and came back. But then the next huge decision came up. A really big one this time. Whether to have cornflakes or bran flakes for breakfast. Well I must admit to you that faced with such a massive decision as this I nearly phoned the prayer line and asked them to pray for me. I also thought of ringing a few friends for advice.

There is one thing I am certain about and that is that I am constantly uncertain. But there again maybe not always, there are times when I am totally sure about everything and anything, so I am not certain it is accurate to say I am uncertain all the time, I am simply not sure about that.
