There has been a long-standing debate about whether or not born-again Christians can be demon possessed. I have heard various answers. But, a while back, I started asking myself the question - does demonic possession even exist? And, I started thinking...

You've no doubt heard those stories of people who have had encounters with aliens, crop circles and that sort of thing. Then, you find out it was just a hoax. Someone conjured it up in their imagination. Is it possible, that people can do that when it comes to demonic possession?

I began thinking, whether people believe it or not, Christ shed His blood for everyone. It's a fact. Every person on the face of this planet was bought with the blood of Christ. It is their decision whether or not to accept that. But, if every person is blood-bought by Christ, at least according to my theory, is it even possible that a demon can possess someone who Christ gave his life for?

Again, I believe it comes down to the heart. Proverbs 23:7 tells us, "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he...." So, if someone believes they're demon posessed, will they be demon possessed? If they believe that they are, is that asking Satan to come right on in?

I personally don't care who you are - Christian or not, or even religious or not - nobody wants Satan to rule their lives! People may hate religion, they may say things about God, but when it boils down to it, who wants Satan to run their lives? So, why would someone even want to believe they're demon possessed? You could be the most unreligious person on the block, but regardless, would you still want to believe you were demon possessed?

Please understand me, Satan is real. But, I also believe that as far as God is concerned, He sent His Son to die for everyone. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us that it is not God's will for anyone to perish. So, personally, if such a thing as possession exists, I believe it is something that, over time, the person has believed - and therefore it has come about.

There is something to be said about being oppressed. We can be bothered by Satan. It happens every day. He fires things at us to shoot us off course. And we can either choose to keep going that direction, or to catch it when it happens, and do what the Bible tells us, to resist the devil. But, in terms of being possessed by Satan or his demons - I believe is a little bit of a push.
