Songs: Moving on

Barn Burning

In my life I won't regret, mistakes I've made I won't forget,

the lesson learned the barn that burned,

my smoky eyes and all the flames.

Blind and deaf and dumb and lame.

I only feel the slightest shame.

I let the smoke pollute my mind,

coughing bleeding wasting time.

By the time my head hit ground

my pride it wouldn't make a sound.

Instead of heading for the door

I lay, a part of charred decor.

My, my, my,

Never thought that

I, I, I,

could be such a wuss.

The police were stumped

The coroner slumped,

Prognosis duh, he's dead you see.

But I knew better I'm much too tough,

I only needed a little sleep.

Cause I been bad an' I been worse

an' I'll never lose my fervent thirst.

I grin from ear to ear an' say,

Thanks and thanks but hold the hearse.

I'm better off alive.
