Recipe for Garlic 'Ranch' Mashed Potatoes!

Garlic ranch mashed potatoes are tasty as a side dish to almost any meal and can even be eaten alone. Making garlic ranch mashed potatoes is easy and takes only a half hour total from start to finish. You can use any kind of potato you like for this side dish, but I've found that the small red potatoes tastes the most delicious. Here's the easy garlic ranch mashed potato recipe.

Things You'll Need: 6 large red potatoes (skin on) 1/8 cup butter or margarine 1/4 cup milk Garlic salt Garlic powder Parmesan cheese 1/2 cup ranch dressing Pinch of salt and pepper Medium sauce pot Large mixing bowl Electric mixer or mashed potato smashing utensil Sharp knife Strainer Wash the 6 red potatoes well under cool water and scrub with hands. Cut potatoes into cubes (with skin on) and set aside. Fill a medium sized sauce pot about 3/4 way with water. Place potato cubes in water and heat on high heat until boiling. Boil the potatoes for approximately 10-15 minutes after boiling starts.

Remove boiled potatoes from heat and strain in a plastic strainer or colander. Put warm potatoes into a large mixing bowl. Stir in the butter and 1/4 cup of milk. Mash potatoes with a smashing utensil or blend on medium low with electric mixer until mostly smooth. Mixture will have a few lumps which is actually good.

Add a few dashes of garlic salt, garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, and a pinch of salt and pepper to potatoes. Mix as above. Stir in 1/2 cup of ranch dressing and mix again with electric beater or mashing utensil. Add more ranch dressing if desired. Serves about 4 people.

Helpful Tips:

Make this dish low fat by using skim milk, low fat or light ranch dressing, and zero calorie butter spread. Garlic ranch mashed potatoes go great with any meat dish including chicken breasts, pork chops, steak, or meatloaf.
