If you have a child going back to school then you may have a need for an extra desktop or even a laptop computer. There are great deals on laptops and PCs online as well as with internet service providers in the Phoenix area.

Get a laptop when you sign-up for wireless.

Both Qwest and AT&T are offering a $199 fully loaded net book when you sign a contract for wireless internet. Internet service prices vary from $35 a month to $54 depending on service. These are a great deal if you were planning on purchasing anyway; it is around a $100 savings. Make sure you get the model that you need and know ahead of time that you will have to send in a mail in rebate.

If you want a new Dell laptop, go directly to the website to purchase and build it. At the Dell website laptops are starting around $299, some are $399. If you go through a retailer like Wal-Mart or Best Buy, then the prices start at $450. So go direct.

Get a free laptop by filling out online surveys.

You have probably heard about the free laptops that you can get for filling out special offers. These are not a joke, but they are not exactly free either. If you know what you are getting into and you are really good at saying "no" then this can be a good deal. Use a reputable website and read the instructions carefully; you usually have to properly fill out and join 13 offers to qualify for the laptop.

If you choose to participate in a free laptop offer, make sure your security software is up to date. Sometimes the free Anti Virus software is the best deal as it is often the most up to date. Set up a separate email account with Google or MSN so you can filter all the junk mail that you are going to receive. Do not ever give out your social security number or a cell number, always use a land line. Be aware that if you choose this route you are going to be bombarded with telemarketing and sales.

Get a free computer when you go to school at home.

If you are considering a Charter School and find you are interested in educating your child online then you can sign up for free with K-12 online academy and they will send you a free computer in the mail as well as the curriculum to go with it. While it may sound tempting this is not the best route for home school families. It is important to note that K-12 online academy is a branch of the public school system, as long as you know the details however this could be an alternative to consider.
