"Blood Knight" is a 2/2 red human knight printed as an uncommon for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Planar Chaos." In a sense, this is similar to the "Black Knight" which has constantly been reprinted. So far, the Blood Knight is pretty much not that different from the Black Knight and vice-versa. However, the Blood Knight has yet to be reprinted.
The converted mana cost for the Blood Knight is two. You will need two red mana to play Blood Knight from your hand onto the battlefield. For what Blood Knight can do, the converted mana cost is well worth it. It is just like paying two black mana for Black Knight and two white mana for "White Knight."
What does the Blood Knight do in the first place?
The abilities of the Blood Knight are exactly the same as the Black Knight. The only difference is that the Blood Knight is a red creature and the Black Knight is a black creature. They both have First Strike. Should Blood Knight attack or block, it is the first to deal combat damage unless the other creature has the same ability or Double Strike. If not and the creature dies, it does not get to deal damage back to the Blood Knight.
Also like the Black Knight, the Blood Knight has Protection from White. It means that Blood Knight cannot be the target of spells or abilities coming from white sources. Cards such as "Path to Exile," "Arrest," "Swords to Plowshares," and so forth will not work on the Blood Knight. If your opponent has nothing but white creatures on the battlefield, you can simply attack with Blood Knight and deal two points of combat damage. If an opponent attacks with a white creature, you can block with Blood Knight. Blood Knight will not suffer any combat damage.
While Blood Knight provides a good way to go up against white decks, it is a bit redundant for the most part. Instead of giving Blood Knight the ability of Protection from White, it would seem to be a bit logical to give it Protection from Blue. The Black Knight already has First Strike and Protection from White. It seems redundant to print the Blood Knight. At the same time, the Blood Knight is still a good card to use against white decks.
Overall, Blood Knight is a great card to have against white decks. In a pure red deck, you can use cards such as "Fervor" to give it Haste and "Rage Reflection" to give it Double Strike. While it does seem a bit redundant, Blood Knight is still a good card to use.
