Truth be told, the world's best pranksters have already marked April 1 on their calendars. For some of them, it's a day full of fun and mischief. For others however, it's an opportunity to take revenge on their enemies and pass it off as a prank. Yes, there are some people who take advantage of April Fool's Day to pull off the worst pranks they can think of. Here is a list of the top ten worst April Fools Day pranks:
10. Using another person's cellphone to send indecent messages to his contacts.
Nowadays, almost everyone owns a cellphone. If a prankster can take hold of someone else's phone and it's not password-protected, he can easily send mass messages to everyone in the phone book in a matter of minutes. Without even realizing the prank that occurred, the poor owner will be shocked and confused when he receives a barrage of angry replies from his close friends and relatives.
9. Hacking someone's computer and messing up the system settings.
Like cellphones, computers are already staple machines in today's society. There are people who can't live without their PCs or laptops. Some even consider it as their only source of living. Hacking somebody's computer can be considered a federal crime, especially when you cause enough damage to the system. Pranksters should always be aware of the repercussions of their actions.
8. Stealing a person's diary/journal and reading them in public.
It's really mortifying when a person invades your privacy. These pranksters may have different motives, but in the end you can never take back the spilled secrets you've been trying hard to keep. Pranks such as these are really mean-spirited and can ultimately lead to severed friendship. If you're the type of person who's rotten to the core, then this prank may not be that big of a deal for you.
7. Scaring somebody when they're in the shower.
The reason why this prank is part of the list can be explained in two words: Slippery tiles. This is especially true when the person that you're trying to scare has just gotten up from bed and has not fully woken up yet. Don't even consider doing this prank if you want to avoid the risk of shouldering someone's medical bills.
6. Sending someone a fake rejection letter from the job or university he's applying to.
Actually, this prank happens quite frequently and it ends with different results. Knowing that there are some people who lose sleep over this, it can be really traumatizing when that person takes hold of the dreaded rejection letter. To all the pranksters out there who wants to pull this off, try putting yourself in their shoes first. See? It's not that funny when you really think about it.
5. Hiding a person's important stuff.
Remember that the word "importance" is relative. You might not know it yet, but there's a chance that you've actually hidden someone's most prized possession. In a worst case scenario, you might even forget where you've hidden that important thing. If someone gives you a hard time for pulling off a childish prank like this, you really deserve it.
4. Lying to a person that somebody close to them died.
There are all sorts of lies which can hurt people, but this one takes the cake. It's especially true when your designated "dead person" lives far away from your poor, gullible victim. You can trigger an underlying depression which can eventually spiral down to unwanted actions (e.g. suicide). That's not exactly how you want your prank to end, right?
3. Putting something nasty on someone's food.
Are you thinking that adding bodily fluids on someone's food is actually a good prank? If you still have an ounce of decency in your body, then you know very well that this is not a great idea. It's not even remotely funny. Sure, you see them in some trashy movies and everyone laughs at the nastiness of it all but that's where the line is drawn. Not everything you see in comedy films is applicable in real life.
2. Killing or hurting someone's pet.
How will you feel when someone tells you: "April Fools! I drowned your hamster!" and then you see that your hamster is actually dead? Yes, it's not the best feeling in the world. Pets are living creatures too and harming them in any way to pull off a prank is both indecent and inhuman.
1. Inflicting physical harm on someone.
The pranks you see in that certain MTV show which are clearly labeled: "Do not try this at home" should never be tried at home. There's a good reason for that. Sometimes people go overboard with their pranks and put another person's life in danger. Sure, death resulting from pranks is quite rare but it's certainly not unheard of. Accidents are fairly common. They can happen and if you're not careful, they will really happen.
April Fools Day is supposed to be clean and good-natured, not vile and nasty. If you have that nagging feeling that the prank will not end well, then don't do it. Always assume the worst.
