Cheap Thanksgiving vacation ideas for families

For many families, the Thanksgiving weekend represents one of the few times that the entire family can get together, and a great way to celebrate that is by planning a family vacation over that weekend. For many places, especially those in warmer climates, winter is a busy time, and they are able to raise rates considerably over the Christmas holidays. Opting to take a family vacation before the winter rate increases will give families the opportunity to experience all that these places have to offer, without having to pay the "higher holiday" price ticket.

There are many places that offer package deals for Thanksgiving weekend, and in some cases, these packages are all inclusive. An all inclusive package is often a very inexpensive option because everything from the room and meals to entertainment and even the special Thanksgiving dinner are included in the price.

Here is a look at some very family friendly destinations that are pretty reasonably priced, considering what they offer.

*OTESAGA RESORT HOTEL, COOPERSTOWN, NEW YORK -

This resort hotel offers a Thanksgiving package that includes a two night stay, two breakfasts and two dinners, a tour of Cooperstown, tickets to the Baseball Hall of Fame, admission to the Fenimore Art Museum and a 19th century village at the Farmer's Museum. As part of the package, there are family activities throughout the entire holiday weekend. Among the activities, there are family friendly movies, hay rides, Bingo and a visit from Santa.

For families who wish to stay longer, special discounted rates are available for additional nights. A $16 surcharge daily surcharge for adults and a $10 daily surcharge for children above the age of four is added to each person's daily bill. The surcharge is intended to be a gratuity that will be paid to the housekeeping and dining room staff.

*ROCKING HORSE RANCH RESORT IN THE SHAWANGUNK MOUNTAINS OF NEW YORK -

Rocking Horse Ranch Resort consists of 500 acres of land in the Shawangunk Mountains in the Mid-Hudson River Valley. It is roughly 90 minutes from New York City. For people whose image of Thanksgiving includes roaring fires, rustling leaves and a wide range and variety of family friendly activities, this is the ideal place.

The all inclusive package includes all activities, three meals a day and the big Thanksgiving Day Feast. Room rates vary according to the size and days of the week for which the rooms are reserved. Activities include:

*Horseback riding
*A brand new Water
