The best locations for last minute vacation travel

Some cities are better than others - especially when it comes to last-minute vacations! Though flight prices vary, the most popular cities always attract extra flights from the major airlines, meaning cheap deals on air fare. And the same rule applies to hotels: some cities attract swarms of tourists, so plenty of hotels will be competing for your business. International destinations can be tricky, requiring passports, vaccinations, and other preparations. But if you're looking for fun at the very last minute, these cities are your best bet!

New York City, New York

It's the biggest city in America, which means there'll be lots of great deals on hotels and airline tickets. Even without reservations, there's plenty for the last-minute traveler to do. The Statue of Liberty is one of the most famous landmarks in the world, and the view is even better from the top of the Empire State Building! And while many cities offer entertainment, only New York can offer genuine Broadway shows. There's also dozens of world-class restaurants (and shopping opportunities), but don't overlook New York's biggest attraction. The city itself is exciting, with spectacular skyscrapers and a history and energy all its own.

Las Vegas, Nevada

It's open 365 days a year, and there's always a good deal on hotels and air fare. (And it seems like there's more package deals available for Vegas than any other city in the world). Even on Christmas day, you'll find most of its major attractions are open - and much of the excitement goes 24 hours a day. The resorts all compete by offering great deals on fine dining and all-you-can-eat buffets, and there's dozens of entertaining shows to choose from. Vegas even offers Broadway shows which have been transplanted to the warm Nevada desert, making it the perfect destination for year-round fun. All the glitter and glamour make you feel that you're someplace special, even before you've spent (or gambled) your first dollar. And much of the entertainment is even free, like the Mirage's live pirate show and tiger exhibit, or the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay.

Los Angeles, California

It's the second-largest city in America, which means great deals on vacations! Finding a flight is always cheap and easy, since it's served by three major airports: Burbank, LAX, and the famous John Wayne airport in neighboring Orange County (with a giant statue of the cowboy star himself)! Since it's one of the world's top tourist destinations, there's always a hotel waiting
