Cold, wet November
Blustery winds and cozy houses
Backpacks filled with construction paper turkeys
And pilgrim songs
Wednesday, excitement abounds
Finally, it's tomorrow
We'll get up early to watch the parade!
We'll dress up, go to Grandma's and have a feast!
The day dawns
Raining again
Turn on the parade
How many snoopy floats and marching bands can you watch
Turn it off..
Time at last for Grandma's
Big smiles, hugs, yummy smells
Two parts of a family, together
To give thanks
Polite conversation, sometimes strained
Different cultures see life in different ways
Tummies full, tummies hurt
Everyone's tired, tensions run high
Kids are crying, in laws disapproving
The day is over.
Time for home and bed.
Thankgoodness...
