World problems need a little more common sense

The government is going bankrupt - print more money. Our children are not learning because our teachers are often subpar - toss more money, but do not require excellence in teaching. After all, we do not want to upset the union. Children are misbehaving or having sex too young - make a law insisting they do not have to mind or talk to their parents. But aren't parents supposed to guide their children? Not any more.

These are just a few of the ways our country and the world have destroyed markets, children and parenting. Give the people mortgages they can't afford. They will feel so much better about themselves...until the changing rate of interest makes it impossible for them to pay. Then everybody loses. The people have no homes. The banks foreclose on properties that have no buyers in the market. The countries' economies slide downhill faster and faster.

Tell the teachers 'We expect you to know the subjects you teach and more.' Oh no! We must not hurt their feelings. The Teachers' Union and the ACLU will be on our backs. Write them a check instead. It looks as though something is being done when actually nothing is being accomplished.

My daughter was pregnant and had an abortion? Why wasn't I told? How many parents are asking that question today? Their parenting has been usurped by government. Again, the place where responsibility lies - in this case, the home - has been bypassed. What if the child cannot talk to her parents? Of course, it's possible she could find an intermediary to go with her. Perhaps the clergy? No, absolutely not! It's so much better to send her to an abortion clinic alone, without benefit of parental care. The government says so. What does the government have to say about the nightmares she has for the rest of her life, knowing she killed a child, her child? The government remains silent after giving the child permission to wreck her life. But, they will ask the parents to take over at that point. It's far too messy for the lawmakers to handle.

In other countries, it is no better. Government decides a woman must be covered in heavy suffocating clothing all of her life. Should she make the mistake of showing passion or emotion to a man, she may be stoned for her foolish behavior.

Is there no way to compromise? Is there no way to bring common sense into the equation? Even the 'sophisticated' nations have made it a policy to allow adultery as the norm. What happened to the sanctity of marriage? It is being degraded and destroyed at an increasing pace.

When in debt - stop spending. When a teacher can not teach, get rid of him or her. When a child needs guidance, send her to her parents. When married, decide it is permanent and not just a playground for cheating.

Tyranny is looked upon with more dignity than democracy or our republic because we have allowed ourselves to be trodden underfoot by begging the world to forgive our sins. Should we also forgive them for taking and taking and taking of our generosity, but not being available when we need help?

When will the world leaders ally with us without an undercurrent of hate and jealousy? Again, common sense avoids those who lead us into an idiotic world of debt and irresponsibility. We, the wandering sheep, do nothing to hold them accountable. And all over the globe we look to the skies and ask, "What happened? How did we get here?" We have traded common sense for nonsense and pushing the buck to the next person.
