Though sitting beside me
You are so far away.
I look into the eyes that
once looked at me with love.
They are vacant and blank.
Where did you go, Beloved?
Little by little, I watched
helpless as you slipped away.
Are you held prisoner, or
does your mind trick you?
Do you think you are in
a fantasy world of charm?
Or are you held tight in fear
waiting for the death and
release from your mind's harm?
I touch you and talk incessantly
hoping to bring you back,
hoping your blue eyes will
know me once more
and draw me into their depths.
Alas, my darling, my angel,
I know deep inside, your body
is no more than a shell,
that your mind has departed
for a richer place in time.
