Thanksgiving is a great time of year for couples and families to plan a visit to a fun location, and the choices are endless.

Eastern United States:

New England has a lot to offer if you prefer to get out into the great outdoors. In New Hampshire's White Mountains all-inclusive weekends packages are offered specifically in the Appalachian Mountain Club's Highland Center. This will include lodging, hikes, nature activities and even use of outdoor gear if you need it. As well in New England you can of course visit an historic site, perhaps Plymouth Rock, many operators in these locations offer special lodging packages specifically designed to celebrate Thanksgiving.

New York is not only a spectacular place to visit anytime but at Thanksgiving offers the famous annual Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, which began in 1920. And after this amazing display you can go and have your turkey dinner feast. Many restaurants offer special prices just for kids. The Otesaga Resort Hotel in New York State offers Thanksgiving weekend packages. This resort is near historic Cooperstown and has a lot to offer such as a 19thcentury village, Farmer's Museum, live entertainment and a number of unique fun family activities, such as hay rides. And, if you're lucky, you may just see Santa along the way.

A highly recommended resort for families is in Pennsylvania called the Woodloch Resort. Thanksgiving packages include a number of special meals and activities, and as well you are treated to a Christmas preview as this is the weekend that the decorations and trees go up. Also in Pennsylvania the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa offers excellent activities for all ages, and the holiday weekend will include a Thanksgiving brunch and breakfast with Santa.

Families may find that the Thanksgiving holiday offers just enough time to spend in Disney World, Orlando, Florida. Family theme parks are always popular and there will be no end of things to do and see. Packages are relatively easy to find. This is a very busy time of year, however, and it is always a good idea to plan and book this vacation ahead.

Western United States:

The West Coast getaways in sunny California are always a most desirable option and can also be quite unique. You may want to stay at the Carmel Valley Ranch for a Thanksgiving holiday in which you will "watch" turkeys rather than "eat" them while dining in the Queen Mary for an exquisite Thanksgiving buffet..
