Single in Washington State

After the age of thirty, it becomes difficult to socialize. With every year after thirty, there are fewer and fewer people no within couples. Couples tend to want to socialize in couples. Some groups might through events without requirement of dates, but single people tend to be the odd man out. There might be a wide variety of living options for people in Washington State, but the Seattle area provides the best options to keep an active lifestyle for singles.

Problem Definition

Areas such as the Tri-Cities and Spokane offer affordable housing and are not as affected by the recession, but do not offer opportunities for singles. Singles in this location must search out activities and individuals on their own. Churches offer groups, but many secular groups that tried to organize failed to attract enough individuals to keep operating at a cost effective means.

The condensed population of the I-5 corridor makes the numbers of singles available for activities greater than urban areas that sit amongst rural areas. Two urban areas such as Tri-Cities and Yakima might be able within them to generate a large enough population, but would need to travel an hour and half for every event. If the singles also wanted to include Spokane, the travel would take another two and hour hours.

Advantages of Seattle

Seattle sits on the I-5 corridor that serves the cities of Tacoma and Seattle and Portland Oregon. Portland Oregon might require travel over a distance for the Tacoma and Seattle area but there is mass transit of trains and airplanes to these locations. The Eastern Washington cities do not have such a tight transportation system. In addition, all the cities along the corridor to Portland are midsize cities and not rural farm communities.

Individuals can get involved just as a citizen with many activities such as sports teams season tickets, clubs, political activities and interest organization such as Experimental Music Project with a large draw, which could mean more singles.

There are clubs and activities directly directed to singles. Some of these are membership organization and others offer opportunities that individuals can drop in. There is adventure or active activities such as hot air ballooning or white water rafting or simple events of getting together at various restaurants in town. There are bars that target the singles population. In addition, a singles newsletter publishes articles about single life in Seattle and runs personal advertisements.

There are many areas to live in Washington State, but Seattle makes living as a single easier. If this is the most important reason for living in an area, Seattle is it in Washington.
