Video game reviews: Battlefield Heroes (PC)

A lot of aspects of this game make it unique, fun and accessible. For example, full customizable characters let you personalize your own soldier by buying him cloths, accessories and weapons. Furthermore, the player is able to gain special ability points that he gets to spend on choosing abilities for his character to fit his way of playing. If you like to help out your friends, get the healing ability. If you prefer plowing through your enemies, get the explosive keg ability. The possibilities are almost endless. DICE did a good job on making Battlefield Heroes an interesting game because the character customization and the abilities coupled with a consistent leveling up system will make you come back for more.

To build up tension and competition, when you create a hero (or a character), you must choose a side and be ready to fight for it all along throughout your whole online experience as you dogfight in planes, run people over with tanks, shoot infantry with guns etc. etc. Either fight for the Royals (British) or the Nationals (German) in a World War II based setting.Still, DICE understands that a player might get bored with a character, a side or a class, so in one account you may have more than one hero. As I mentioned, a hero can differ by its class. The player has a choice of three classes: commando, soldier or gunner. They are kind of like light, medium and heavy, in that order. The commando is the assassin, the soldier is the support and the gunner is the tank who takes all the bullets.

When playing Battlefield Heroes, you join a dedicated server, which means that the server is only used for the game. Also, lagging and disconnections are not issues when playing Battlefield Heroes.

The possibility of forming communities makes this game socially interesting as well. A lot of features encourage this possibility. First, a forum on the webpage let's people discuss matters on this game or related to this game. A leader board keeps track of all the top players, making you yearn to meet one one day. Secondly, the possibility to rent a server is offered to the members of the community. Therefore, a clan leader can rent a server, customize it by choosing the maps and play style (infantry focused, vehicles focused, quick, long etc.) and make it like the clan headquarters, bringing people with common preferences closer to each other.

In essence, this cartoon first person shooter is a fun and free game that everyone can enjoy whether you are the average person looking for a good time or a hardcore gamer, you will find that Battlefield Heroes is worth trying for its price.
