WHY GET MARRIED

There are lots of reasons why people get married, some wise and others foolish, some of them only thinking about the here and now and others thinking ahead into the future. Because many people are human and make mistakes and do not always think things through or think rationally the majority of them get married for what turn out to be silly or foolish reasons in the long run. This may be why so many marriages end up with a divorce or being unhappy and with one or both looking for someone outside the marriage. So let us look at the various reasons why people get married...

* Because the woman is pregnant. Maybe this is ok if they would have got married anyway and the pregnancy brought it forward and made it quicker. But if the pregnancy is the only reason the two people are getting married it is unlikely to last happily. Even marriages that incorporate true love as a reason can go wrong, so a marriage where true love was not the main reason for the marriage has little chance of succeeding. The odds are that one or both will end up realising they would rather be seeing someone else or with someone else.

* Because one of them is in need of somewhere to live, more money or someone to look after them. If the needy person can find someone daft enough to provide these things for them and they do not mind that they are not " in love" with their new spouse then they will be fairly happy, but the person who is being used for material gain and a cash dispenser will end up realising how things really are and either want a divorce or be miserable within that marriage.

* Because all of their friends are married and they feel left out. A silly reason which proves the people involved are very immature but maybe it is as good as any.

* Because they do not like to live on their own and do not like to co-habit. A better reason than some but it is still silly to marry just anyone who is available and far better to wait till you find someone you have a lot in common with and love.

* Because one is insecure and feels they must have a piece of paper that says the other BELONGS to them. Anyone who is that insecure needs to sort themselves out before they can make a relationship work, and a piece of paper will not stop the insecurity nor will it stop a divorce from maybe happening one day. Even if the person you may claims to be madly in love with you today you have no guarantee they will feel that love for you five years from now.
