A couple years ago when guitar hero was released, kids became obsessed with the game. Then, something odd happened. All of the kids started singing "Slow Ride" and "Sunshine of your love" Soon after that, kids were wanting to play guitar. Guitar hero has inspired many kids to want to learn guitar. Many guitar companies even say that guitar hero has not effected ther business at all. Instead it has helped them grow. Personally, I think it is great that young kids are getting into playing guitar so early. Guitar hero has certainly had an impact on real guitar playing.
Although guitar hero has gotten people into liking guitar, it certainly has not made them better players. Think about it, red, blue, green, and orange buttons have no corolation to real guitars. First of all real guitars have six string which go up and down the guitar neck. For guitar hero, you have six colored buttons only on the top half of the neck. Next, guitars are much bigger and heavier than a guitar hero guitar. Also, guitar hero guitars are made of plastic, guitars are not. Another point I would like to write about is this. When I first played guitar hero I sucked, then I started to get better and better. Soon I had beaten all of the songs on every difficulty. I said to myself, "Hey this is easy! I bet playing guitar is no harder!" How wrong was I. In my opinion, real guitar playing is ten times more challenging than guitar hero. Many people will think the opposite. Take this into consideration. A real guitar has six string, when you pick you have to skip strings and play multiple strings right? On guitar hero, it is just that one strum bar and you do not even have multiple strings to worry about.
Next is the buttons, guitars have six strings going horizontal up the neck, and vertical down the neck. A guitar hero neck on the other hand, has six buttons. All you have to do for guitar hero, is stay in the same vasinity on the neck and play. On a real guitar you have the whole neck to worry about. Another thing is playing songs. In guitar hero, you have a screen telling you all the notes to play. For real guitar you must learn the whole song and play it by memory! This is much more difficult than guitar hero.
Although guitar hero does introduce many new guitarists, guitar hero is much easier to play than an actual guitar.
