The pain is hard to hide
I just want it to subside
life has been a bumpy ride
with every walking stride
The beatings were everyday
and they never went away
I asked my friends to help me pray
They told me that I would be okay
My father hated everything about me
he held the future with a golden key
told me that I would never be free
and I knew better than to disagree
oh, the life of an abused little kid.

My upturned visage
