Best of 2009: Vacations
2009 has been a difficult year for many people with money being tight as a result of the economic conditions and this has meant that vacations have been further down the list of priorities than may otherwise have been the case. However even in such times it is a good idea to have a vacation as this can take you away from the stresses and strains of everyday life and give you a chance to relax and recharge your batteries. In 2009 the term ‘staycation’ has become popular and this is used to describe a vacation close to home which can be much more affordable than travelling further afield or overseas. There are many great ways to have a ‘staycation’ and these are few of the popular ones.
Camping
A trip to the country can be relaxing as you get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and get a chance to commune with nature. Camping is an affordable way to do this and there are many great State Parks and camping sites around the country, such that you should not have to travel too far to find a suitable place for a vacation. Many camping parks also have a number of activities available on site meaning that you should be able to spend time there and not have much difficulty finding things to do. Many people experienced camping holidays as children through schools and clubs but then fall out of this activity as they grow older. The current economic climate gives you the perfect opportunity to reacquaint yourself with this excellent pastime.
Local Budget Hotels
Most cities, towns and areas have their own tourist attractions, although many people local to these may not have taken the time to view them. A simple way to have an affordable vacation is to find a budget hotel not too far from where you live and use this as a base to tour some of the local attractions. Although maybe not having all the facilities of a five star hotel, budget hotels are usually good value for the money you pay and many are family run providing a homely and relaxing atmosphere. It can also be pretty interesting to visit some of the attractions local to your area and find out some of the history and have some fun. It is a good way to relax and have some enjoyable times without the need for excessive expense.
Road Trip
Many people own Recreational Vehicles (RV’s) and these provide an excellent way to have a leisurely and affordable vacation. You can set your own pace and go where ever the feeling takes you on any given day although a
