My travel experience to Riga began at a very young age! See, my grandmother used to live 50 kilometers from Riga in a small village and to get there you have to take a train from Riga. Our father took us to see her every summer, and I enjoyed every second of the busy, dusty and sultry city that we have been passing by. And meat pie! Who can ever forget about meat pies at Riga's main bus station? The taste that is stored on the front shelf of your memory like it was just yesterday.

Young people in Latvia prefer to taste a life of Riga. They are applying for colleges, universities or just for work and discovering the whole world of crazy, every minute hurried city, with its pluses and minuses. I was one of them! I moved to Riga being eighteen. Applied for University and they accepted me. I finely could enjoy every second of my life in capital, to try a different taste of life and get closer to every corner that it had for me!

To my surprise, I adopted very quick and felt myself like I always lived in this amusing city. Why do I call it amusing? Because I am amazed every time I see how people run into just opened doors of tram or bus and at the same time pushing away everyone around them. Because I will always be thankful to my country for letting me to love our traditions and our country. Because politicians still fighting between each other about national characteristics instead of taking a part in political life and making the everyday routine of inhabitants better or to pass important decisions. Because people buying and having the most advanced technology even though they have no money for it. Because inhabitants of Riga will always meet you, by the way, you are dressed and to see you off by your wallet. There are so many reasons!

Life goes by and I am in the plane coming back to Riga. I do live in a different country now, mastering my languages and getting inspired by so other cultures and traditions I never knew before. My heart is beating fast as we are about to land. The voices of happiness are elated inside of me! It is finely Riga, my home sweet home, my city that I admire and city that changed me so much! One day I will be home for good, one day I will realize that it is not the city I used to live in and know everything about it.
