Reflections: US military prison on Guantanamo

When I heard about Guantanamo bay, I was not happy to hear what they are doing to them. When our great forefathers founded our great country, they didn't believe in torture. They found our country humbly and by inspiration through god. And it's like everyone has just thrown it away. It's like we don't have rights.

I mean, sure I can't believe that anyone could do anything that inhumane, and cause so much terror and fear, and have the indignity to blow up our beloved twin towers. But does America believe in eye for an eye? I don't think so. But how could we, America let this happen. How could we have the indignity to torture them brutally.

It is unconstitutional and we know it, but it seems like our Constitution doesn't matter anymore because if it did, we would respect and follow what those men fought for to get our independence, to make us free; a free country. Have we forgotten the ways that they taught us? Have we forgotten what the Declaration of Independence says, "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

Is that not what they wrote? Is that not what they fought for? The amendments, what did we throw away there? Well there is amendment 6 which says, Rights to a fair trial. Shouldn't they be judged to a fair trial? Shouldn't they have chance against court? Shouldn't they have a say in what they did, like any other American gets?

Amendment 8: To restrict all cruel and unusual punishments. Punishments must be humane. Now is torture humane? Torture very well fits the term cruel and unusual punishment. They are brutally punished. Every human should get those rights. How could we even think about torture! The term torture is so cruel and mean. I thought we got over torture along time ago. But since they're terrorist, we get to torture and take away their unalienable rights given by god the creator.

Unalienable means it can't be taken away and yet we take it from them. Why are we using torture to resolve our problems? It's only going to cause more terror and more fear for Americans. And now one puts that in thought. Guantanamo Bay is wrong and what they do to them is horrible. It must stop. We are Americans, we are not like them.
