World of Warcraft classes: Hunter

Ahh, Hunters.

To tell you the truth, they are my favorite class in World of Warcraft, hands down.

Maybe it is because my first character on Horde was a hunter, I dunno, but I have been through all of the classes in the game, and none of them were as fun as being a hunter was. There is something about that whole idea of going out into the wilderness, fighting a beast, taming it, and training it alongside you as you adventure and quest to level 80. Before I get too philosophical, let me introduce the basics of what makes a hunter, a hunter.

The hunter is one of the many classes in World of Warcraft, and it primarily focuses on ranged attacks, as opposed to melee. They are considered a DPS class (Damage Per Second), and specialize on dealing a solid amount of damage over a continuous range of time. They can wear cloth, leather, and mail (at level 30). The most memorable feature of a hunter, and one that makes it a distinct class amongst the rest, is that it allows the player to go out, and pick almost ANY beast in the game and tame it.

Imagine that, having access to over 3000 different types of pets. The other "pet-class", Warlocks, don't offer as much variety, and only give you to have a handful of different pets (or minions as they are called being a Warlock) to choose from. If I want a cat as a pet, I can go out, find a cat, and tame it. If I want a two-headed dog, with lava spewing out it's back, I can go out and tame that too (assuming I can find it, that thing took me over an hour to find, let alone tame it). Just the thought of that makes me want to go and play with my Hunter right now, that's how fun it really is. Yeah, some people might complain "but I started a hunter, and only got it to level 10, and got bored", well that's because you can only learn to tame a beast at level 10, and I admit, getting up to level 10 is a bit tedious, but if you know what you're doing, it won't take you more than 3 hours.

I think I was level 20 when I realized that it was 2 AM and I am tired, and want to sleep, but first I need to get on my Hunter, and go around, killing random things. It was extraordinarily fun, and I loved every second of it. That hunter got to level 80, and I liked the experience so much, that I even started a new Hunter, and blog about him. This time, I am recording every minute of this precious thing.

But anyways, enough with the advertising. If after reading this entire article you are still debating whether or not to be a Hunter, I'll choose for you, DO IT. There is nothing to lose, and if you have never been one before, I promise you will enjoy it. Just wait it out until you are level 20 (like I was), and I guarantee it will be one of the most fun experiences that you have ever had in all of the game.
