"Trailblazer's Boots" is a colorless artifact printed as an uncommon for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Zendikar." This is perhaps one of the cards printed in Magic the Gathering let alone in Zendikar that is set to punish opponents for having certain cards in their decks. If that is the case, one should take full advantage of what Trailblazer's Boots has to offer. Initially, one should not immediately play Trailblazer's Boots. One should wait and use it as a sideboard.
The converted mana cost for Trailblazer's Boots is two. You will need two mana of any color to play Trailblazer's Boots. For what Trailblazer's Boots can do, the casting cost is worth it. This is good if you can get Trailblazer's Boots onto the game early enough. It takes two mana to equip Trailblazer's Boots onto a creature. However, make sure the creature neither has Shroud nor Protection from Artifacts. Keep in mind that Trailblazer's Boots is an artifact. A spell such as "Naturalize" will send Trailblazer's Boots to the graveyard.
What does Trailblazer's Boots do in the first place?
The equipped creature gets "Nonbasic Landwalk." In this respect, if your opponent has at least one nonbasic land on the battlefield, you can attack with the creature equipped with Trailblazer's Boots. Your opponent has no choice but to take the damage. S/he will have to use a means to remove Trailblazer's Boots. However, this is only effective provided that your opponents have nonbasic lands. If your opponents do not have nonbasic lands in a deck, then Trailblazer's Boots would not be that useful.
As a result, you would need to reserve Trailblazer's Boots as a sideboard. In a tournament format, you will need to keep a close eye on what other players are using. That way, you can prepare yourself on whether or not you need to use Trailblazer's Boots.
In a limited draft, Trailblazer's Boots should be considered as a sideboard. However, the Zendikar packs do have common and uncommon nonbasic lands. If there are people playing multicolored decks, then you could possibly go ahead and use Trailblazer's Boots and assume that your opponents would probably play nonbasic lands.
In the current standard format, you could use Trailblazer's Boots. This is due to the current format being the Alara block, "Magic 2010," and Zendikar. The Alara block and Magic 2010 have plenty of nonbasic lands. Overall, Trailblazer's Boots makes an interesting card as a sideboard. If you know your opponents are going to be using nonbasic lands, go ahead and use Trailblazer's Boots.
