Magic the Gathering card analysis: Barren Glory

"Barren Glory" is a white enchantment spell printed for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Future Sight." So far, this perhaps one of the most humorous cards to be printed in Magic the Gathering. In a sense, it is somewhat similar to "Mayael's Aria," "Battle of Wits," "Celestial Convergence," "Chance Counter," "Coalition Victory," "Darksteel Reactor," "Epic Struggle," "Felidar Sovereign," "Helix Pinnacle," "Mortal Kombat," and "Test of Endurance."

The converted mana cost for Barren Glory is six. You will need two white mana and four colorless mana to play Barren Glory. For what Barren Glory can do, it would seem to be or not to be worth paying the converted mana cost. Still, one could play it entirely out of curiosity. Keep in mind that Barren Glory is an enchantment spell. In this respect, Barren Glory is susceptible to anything and everything that goes after enchantment spells.

What does Barren Glory do in the first place?

Barren Glory allows you to win the game at the beginning of your upkeep when the following stipulations are met: you have to have zero cards in your hand and Barren Glory has to be the only permanent on the battlefield under your control. Should those stipulations have been met, you end up winning the game. However, meeting those stipulations is easier said than done.

You would have to find a way to get rid of your creatures, artifacts, planeswalkers, and other enchantments. On top of that, you need to get rid of all your lands. Do not event think about enchanting Barren Glory with a spell such as "Indestructibility" unless you have a means to destroy the enchantment in the future. Because of this, it is quite difficult to utilize Barren Glory.

In this respect, this is considered to be a "stupid card." In a sense, this is similar to the card called "Battle of Wits." Battle of Wits lets you win the game if you have two-hundred or more cards in your library at the start of your upkeep. Because of this, Barren Glory and Battle of Wits are similar because the stipulations of winning the game are extremely insane if not impossible. However, it is pretty comical to see someone play Barren Glory and actually try to use its ability.

Overall, Barren Glory can be classified as being interesting. But, most players probably would not try to risk using Barren Glory's ability. In short, do not try to risk using Barren Glory's ability.
