Shopping online can save you considerable time, money, energy, stress, gasoline, and open a whole new world of retail stores to shop in for any possible item on the planet.

After making your list of people you wish to buy a gift for and the items that come to mind to consider for them and the approximate amount you wish to spend, you can settle back with a hot cup of coffee and begin browsing through websites by type of merchandise, say, sporting goods for the guys in your life, or by specific retailer, like your favorite department store and move from department to department without taking a step. You are already saving money just by not putting it in your gas tank or paying for a taxi or public transportation. You may be sipping your coffee while still in your jammies or you may be doing a bit of shopping on your lunch hour without running around town and stressing out about being late getting back to work. Sound good?

Now, say you have found several shirts and ties you really like for the men in your life, and they are a major popular brand name. You can compare prices for these shirts and ties at any number of online stores, put them in a shopping cart or in a wish list to hold for later until you find the price you want to pay. Additionally, you can look for websites that offer free shipping and some are now offering free return shipping if the item is not acceptable to you for whatever reason. Also, looking for gift wrapping services for free or a small charge can save you shipping costs by having your gifts sent directly to the recipient. All of these small savings will add up to quite a savings in your pocket.

Browsing through websites you have never visited before can introduce you to unexpected finds, never would have thought of ideas for gifts, and if the site does nothing for you, you're outtathere in a flash. You may be pleasantly surprised though, by fantastic sale prices at high-end retailers and coupons or other inducements.

The biggest saver of all is saving yourself the mental stress and physical stress we have all experienced trying to shop during the holidays. Do your shopping online and then take a trip to town for a leisurely dinner and a stroll down the street to look at the beautiful window dressings or drive down the streets to look at holiday lights and decorations. Looking around at the stressed scurrying shoppers while you are relaxed and smiling will truly give you a feeling of good will to all.
