iPhone app reviews: SmileDial Pro

SmileDial Pro is an iPhone app that allows users to dial their contacts by tapping on the contacts' smiles or eyes. This is a nice break from the traditional method of dialing, which is to look at your list of contacts and tap their phone numbers. This app makes using the iPhone's phone feature a bit more fun.

Ironically, because there are so many available apps for the iPhone, I rarely use my phone for just calling now. Mainly, it is used to surf Safari when I am away from my computer, and for playing games whenever I get the chance or when I am bored. Fortunately, developers are still trying to make the phone feature of the iPhone interesting. SmileDial Pro makes me want to call people for no reason at all, other than to say, "I tapped your smile in order to call you" and get the familiar confused expression of, "Huh?"

SmileDial Pro has a few cons, however, For instance, even though this app seems to be original, it should not cost as much as $2.99. I think that for an app of this nature, with such a simple premise, a low price of 99 cents is reasonable. Moreover, I do not think that the app is as "smooth" as it can be. Although it is easy enough to tap the pictures of your contacts, it is a bit difficult to move from one contact to another, and to change from one picture to another. In other words, if you have just finished calling someone and you want to tap another contact's picture, you will experience a slight lag in between.

I also don't like the name itself. While the developers suggest that you will be tapping your contact's smile when you want to call him/her, you will just be tapping the bottom half of the picture. If the picture does not have a smiling person, or does not have a person at all, you may just be randomly tapping the bottom half of the screen. The same issue goes for "tapping your contact's eyes." If the picture does not include eyes, you will ultimately just be tapping the top half of the screen.

All in all, I think that SmileDial Pro has many good features and that the developers did a good job of presenting a new app that would help iPhone users make the most out of their phone. However, I think that the price is unreasonable and that the app could use be improved to fix the problem with lags.
