There is no need to purchase potpourri holders when you can use a multitude of do it yourself containers that are available right inside your home. Even if your home is not decorated in a style that will lend itself to bowls of potpourri sitting around, you can spread this wonderful fragrance in many hidden ways!

Curtain Hiders: Curtains and drapes are a great place to hide your potpourri packets. Place some potpourri into the toe of a knee high stocking and tie it shut. Pin the small packet between your drapes and sheers or under a valance. It will be out of sight, but when the sun shines in, the warmth will help the potpourri send a wonderful fragrance across the room.

Furnace Blowers: If you want to fill all of your rooms with the fragrance of potpourri with just one packet you can let your furnace do the work for you. Use a piece of square netting and place a handful of potpourri in the center. Pull up all of the corners and tie them with a string. If your furnace is housed in a small cubicle area, simply hang your potpourri bag on a nail in the cubicle.

In Plain Sight: For a country themed bathroom, do it yourselfers can hide their potpourri in plain sight. Buy your potpourri to match your bathroom colors. Also buy some netting and some ribbon to blend or accent your bathroom colors. Cut the netting into small squares, depending on the look you want. Count your shower curtain holders. You can either put one on every hook, every other hook or how ever you want to achieve your desired look.

Fill the small squares of netting with potpourri, gather the corners and sides and tie it shut with the matching or contrasting ribbon. You can even glue tiny flowers, leaves or whatever else suits your bathrooms theme, to the bow on the ribbon. Hook these tiny do it yourself potpourri packets over the shower hooks so that they rest on the shower curtain facing outwards. Whenever you shower or run hot water in the bathroom the scent will be delightful!

Many people accent their homes walls and drapery by garnishing them with silk vines of leaves or flowers. You can add tiny potpourri packets to them and they will look like they belong there. Using your imagination is half the fun of do it yourself decorating. Now that I have given you several ideas, give it some thought and you will probably come up with many more ways to make some do it yourself potpourri holders.
