Yes, it can be done! You can make a reasonable part-time or even full-time wage on Helium, if you set your mind to it. Working as a writer is not the easiest profession in the world, and part of that is because of all the head trash that surrounds this occupation. Writers need to let the rest of the world worry about the stereotypes they attach to authors. If you have decided to write for Helium or any other writing site to earn your income, you need to get the right attitude about your decision.
*Do your calculations: Find out what you need to make so you can set a reasonable goal for your writing. Let's face it. No author is going to write enough Internet articles to pay several maxed out credit card bills, as well as expected monthly expenses. Writers who need to do that would be wise to start dreaming a little bigger so they reach for positions of high-end status like Stephanie Myer, author of the *Twilight* series.
*Increase your portfolio: Until you have five stars on Helium, you are not earning the maximum amount for your articles. Write non-stop and get those five blue writing stars. Compose articles on anything and everything to maximize the amount of income you receive each month. Take time away from everything else you do if necessary, and get those all important writing stars that will give you $2.50 per article in upfront payments.
*Write to empty titles: If you have five writing stars, chances are you have a decent percentage of articles in competitive titles. Lower that percentage by writing to empty titles. Each empty title you fill adds one more dollar to the $2.50 you already receive. Take advantage of this Helium program, and earn $3.50 just for publishing an article.
*Consistently submit new content: On average, you need to write between five and seven articles per day to earn more than $500 a month on Helium. Earning $3.50 for five articles each day, multiplied by 30 days in a month will give you approximately $525. Add in your page views, plus contest and Marketplace earnings, and you could lower that quota considerably. Allow for articles that don't receive the empty title bonus, and you'll know exactly how many articles you need to produce daily, monthly, and annually to pay your bills.
Is it easy to earn $500 a month on Helium? That depends on your outlook as a writer. Would you rather get up and go to work every day, where there is no temptation to slack off because you can't afford to be fired? Do you have what it takes to discipline yourself, and push the issue with your family? Working from home might make you more accessible, but you are not solely to blame if no one respects the time you need to get your work done. Set your boundaries, and do what you need to do, because it really is possible to earn $500 or more a month on Helium without working 24/7.
