Using Melt and Pour soap is a very easy process. You can customize the soap with your choice of color, scent, shape and any additives you wish to add. They make wonderful gifts for any occasion and anyone.
With the holidays upon us and our guests soon to arrive a practical soap to make would be the single use soap.
Even though you put out a new bar of soap in the bathroom before everyone arrives it will soon become nasty and crawling with germs. By using single use soaps you can prevent this from happening. Melt and Pour soap, silk flower petals and leaves are all you need to make your own single use soaps at home. You just dip the petals and leaves in the soap, allow soap to dry and place them in a beautiful bowl on the bathroom sink and they are ready to go. Guests use them once and toss the silk petal or leave away. No mess to clean up and no germs to spread.
You can use any type of silk flower petals and leaves. (My favorite is pink roses).
Use only clear Melt and Pour soap so that the coloring you use will show.
Use fragrance or essential oil. (Always make sure it is skin safe).
Tweezers should be used to pick the petals and leaves up out of the soap. (Never use your fingers)
Wax paper or freezer paper (use whichever you have on hand)
If using 2oz. of soap, you should get a total of 25-30 petals and leaves.
Directions:
Always be sure to wash your hands before you begin this project.
Place 2oz of Melt & Pour soap in a microwave safe dish and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and if not completely melted microwave at 10 second intervals until it becomes liquefied. Although it will be very messy you can also use a double-boiler on the stove.
Add fragrance or essential oil of choice, 10-12 drops is usually enough. You can make it as strong or as weak as you prefer. Use the first dipped petal or leave to test the strength of fragrance. If it is not strong enough you can always add more. If too strong you can use more Melt & Pour Soap. It is up to you how strong the fragrance is.
Be sure and use the tweezers to pick up the petals and leaves as close to the edge as you can and dip it in the soap.
Hold the petal or leave above the soap mixture until it stops dripping.
Place on freezer or wax paper.
Repeat until all soap is used up. If the soap begins to harden you may have to put the soap back in the microwave a few times to melt the soap again.
Be sure and let the leaves and petals dry completely before removing them.
After you remove them put them in a nice dish and use as guest soaps in the bathroom. You may need to make a sign that let's your guests know that it is Single Use Soap.
It is the perfect amount of soap for a single hand washing. Throw the used petal or leaves away, dry your hands and you're done.
