Parts and pieces...
Our love was an unfinished puzzle
two sets of pieces becoming one
and though some parts were scattered
others were already done
We came together easily
where shapes were well aligned
falling into place
like that was how we were designed
But then as time went on
we discovered parts that didn't mesh
those jagged ones that scraped and tore
into each others flesh
We worked at smoothing edges
making curves to bend around
I thought we made good progress
as more fitting parts were found
How and why it happened
I'm not too sure at all
but somewhere we disturbed the pieces
and it all began to fall
Now I'm running round in circles
collecting parts that had been tossed
but I can't complete a puzzle
with half the pieces lost!

I see that you're crying, though you show me no tears-
I know that you're scared, though a man has no fears-

But in my thoughts she does remain.
She comes unexpectedly; in a song
As a bird perched on the edge of its nest
eyes searching the unknown world outside
strengthening its wings, yearning to fly
