We all have our favourite type of workouts whether it's on a cardio machine or in the weights room. This is what keeps us motivated and makes working out all the more enjoyable. However our bodies are intelligent machines and when they get too much of one exercise they get used to is and stop improving. This usually happens after four to six weeks of doing the same monotonous routines. Fortunately with small changes and additions to your regular workout, you can improve your results and continue doing the exercise you love.
Plyometrics
Woking out with weights isn't enough to get the physique we dream of. Our muscles get used the weights, and eventually we are unable to keep adding to the load for a challenge. Plyometrics is the answer here because it gives your body an extra challenge and works muscles that may have otherwise been neglected during a traditional weights workout. The impact of plyometrics can have positive effects especially on areas such as the butt, thighs and stomach by reducing flabby bits and strengthening the muscles in these areas even more
Intervals
Sticking to the fat burning mode during every workout is going to lead to a rut in your routine and you will hit a wall with your fitness levels. Doing the same thing over and over again is not only going to get boring but stop having positive effects on your body and fitness. Adding interval workouts once or twice a week can improve your fat burning and increase your speed and time if you partake in things like the 10km, marathon, triathlon or any kind of race.
Flexibility
Flexibility is a component that is often forgotten when it comes to your workout. Stretching is an important part of your workout and it has positive effects on other parts of your workout. It can improve your aerobic and weight training sessions also. Yoga and Pilates types exercise a few times per week will improve your posture, balance and give you the flexibility you need to do other exercises, as well as to do normal every day activities.
If you've been training regularly and want something different from your workout, try adding at least one of these types of workouts into your training routine each week. It will give you an advantage and improve your physique and fitness levels much quicker and more effectively than if you were to continue to stick to the same workout without change. This type of change will also prevent boredom and monotony, allowing you to stick to exercise for longer.
