Christmas shopping for teenage boys is not as difficult as it seems; there are definitely some gifts that are safer than others. Socks, underwear and anything that can be considered "practical" is definitely out, while anything that allows for maximum time spent in front of a television and away from the light of day is pretty much awesome. It's no coincidence that Twilight is such a teen phenomenon! Since DVDs allow for retina-burning goodness, here are some no-fail options for Christmas.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Megan Fox, a Chevrolet Camaro that is really an alien robot, amazing explosions and stunts, and Megan Fox are sure to entertain any teen (or adult) boy! Not only does Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen combine everything that boys love: cars, girls and action, but it is also rooted in their childhood love of the Transformer cartoons and action figures. Directed by Michael Bay and starring Shia LaBeouf.
G. I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra
Another film based on a popular toy franchise, G. I. Joes, that proves that even teen boys love their toys! With the movie centering around an elite military unit, it promises plenty of explosions, guns, car chases and more pretty girls. Directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Channing Tatum.
Star Trek
J. J. Abrams has taken Star Trek and has successfully introduced it to a new generation. Space travel, fun gadgets, and fight scenes promise to keep teens on the edge of their seats. Chris Pine stars as James T. Kirk with a talented and recognizable cast.
The Hangover
While The Hangover is rated R in the US (14A in Ontario), it's likely that most teen boys have seen and want this summer's hottest comedy. Be aware that this film is full of nudity, crude language and other inappropriate comedy, so use discretion if giving this film. But there is a reason that this film was in theaters all summer long: non-stop laughs and surprises. What other movie has a tiger, Mike Tyson, and a baby?
Supernatural: The Complete Fourth Season
The fourth season of Supernatural has Sam and Dean fighting a shape-shifting Dracula, ghost sickness, and even the rising of Lucifer himself. A must-see television show for teenaged boys everywhere, the fourth season is imperative for any fan of horror and suspense. Created by Erik Kripke and starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.
The hottest DVDs for teen boys this Christmas entertain, amuse and promise to please. These films are definitely more likely to excite than a pair of socks, but just be prepared to not see your teen until they run out of food!
