Poetry: Let me go

by Karyn B Jules

It's lonely out here...

I'm standing here outside your door
waiting for another chance
to feel the love we knew
Oh how I long to recapture our romance

There was a time you let me in
I thought I'd found my home
A place where I belonged
from which I'd never want to roam

I still don't know what happened
how I ended up out here
The reasons why you locked me out
elude me, so unclear

I can't continue on this way
looking in on you
knowing you no longer feel
the same way as I do

And yet you keep me hanging on
in hope of something more
wishing for a future
where we're as we were before

This waiting here has drained me
taken all my strength and will
I don't know where to turn
and so, alone ,I stand here still

I need to move, the time has come
please tell me what I must know
open up, invite me back in
or cut these ties and let me go...
