"The Alchemy of a Bachelor's Refrigerator"

The mushroom garden in my fridge,

Brought on by non-compliance,

Contains a multitude of life

Unchronicled by science

It spawned in chicken noodle soup

And last year's Christmas dinner;

Cleaning out this rancid mess

Is not for the beginner...

I saw two eyes stare back at me

From the sour cream and chive,

And much like Dr. Frankenstein,

I shouted, "It's alive!"

I filled notebooks with discoveries,

 Not missing a detail...

My Amana was an Amazon

That I bequeathed to Yale

The scientists found toxins

In the veggie drawer's decay

And a couple more nerve agents,

So they called the CIA,

Who tested it on guinea pigs

With deadly repercussions-

Until a double-agent

Sold the serum to the Russians!

So hear me, lazy bachelors,

I repent my indescretion-

Leftovers last a day or two;

It's time for my confession:

A fridge is not a holding tank-

Choose wisely when you fill it,

And when a monster comes to life,

Get Lysol out and kill it!
