"Coalition Relic" is a colorless artifact printed in the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Future Sight." From the looks of Coalition Relic, this is perhaps one of the best artifacts printed ever. In any format that is not standard, Coalition Relic seems to be a pretty hot artifact to have for the most part. This is an artifact that does a good job with mana fixing and mana acceleration. Mana fixing is important if you have multicolored cards to play. Mana acceleration is important as it allows you to play spells much faster.
The converted mana cost for Coalition Relic is three. You will need three mana of any color to play Coalition Relic. For what Coalition Relic can do, three mana is a great investment. In this respect, you are investing for something that can help you midway or late in the game. Keep in mind that Coalition Relic is an artifact. It means that the Coalition Relic is susceptible to anything and everything that affects artifacts.
What does Coalition Relic do in the first place?
By tapping Coalition Relic, you can add one mana of any color to your mana pool. The ability to do that is invaluable. If you are playing a multicolored deck, you will need mana fixing. Asides from nonbasic lands, mana producing artifacts go a long way. Coalition Relic is one of those artifacts that you should use in a multicolored deck. Because it can be tapped for one mana of any color, Coalition Relic is a must have because of the mana fixing.
However, that is not all that Coalition Relic offers. You can tap Coalition Relic to put a charge counter on it. At the start of your precombat phase, you remove the charge counters from Coalition Relic. Then, you get to add one mana of any color for each charge counter removed from the Coalition Relic. In this respect, you could remove one counter from Coalition Relic for one mana of any color and tap it for another mana of any color. With the right cards on the battlefield, you can possibly tap and untap Coalition Relic a few times to build up those charge counters.
In this respect, Coalition Relic is pretty handy for both mana fixing and mana acceleration. For any multicolored deck, Coalition Relic is perhaps a very handy artifact to have. One could possibly put this on par with the artifact called the "Darksteel Ingot" because it too allows the controller to tap it for one mana of any color.
Overall, Coalition Relic is a pretty handy artifact to have in terms of mana fixing and mana acceleration. If you need a certain color of mana and do not have the lands that can produce it, you can use Coalition Relic. If you need a bit of mana acceleration, Coalition Relic's second ability definitely helps out.
