Planning a wedding when time is scarce

Planning a wedding? How long should it take? Some people say a year and some people say 6 months. It took me, my husband, my sister and my mother only a week. Due to my husband going through basic training for the military, me taking 19 credit hours in college and us wanting to get married before my dad went off Iraq it left us in a serious time crunch. After my last final I drove back to where my father was stationed and where his parents live and started the planning for our wedding. It wasn't the fanciest or expensive wedding it was cheap and very nice. What you have to keep your mind on is your wedding.

A first thing first is you must make a budget how much do you want to spend on what? How much can you afford to spend? On our wedding we spend around $3000 dollars. First you must find a dress and make sure your bridal party finds something to wear. If you have a small bridal party it will be easier to cloth them in the short amount of time that you have we only had a maid of honor and a Best Man. Then you must find a place a good idea would be to have the ceremony and the reception at the same place so that way it's like killing two birds with one stone, it's also a plus if that same venue caters and most of the time it is much cheaper than finding somewhere else to cater.

Next in line is the cake most places need about two weeks to order so that is something you need to take into consideration I think that this portion is the only part that I did while I was still in school. HEB and Walmart have some pretty wedding cake selections, we got our cake from HEB, it was the Quinceaniera (sorry if I spelled it wrong) cake due to the fact that my grandparents paid for it and their only request is that it had at least 6 layers and has some stairs.

Also it would be nice if you know someone to decorate for you if not they have some wedding dcor at oriental trading (if you have time), hobby lobby (or any hobby store), or at any dollar store that you have in your area. Also when it comes to doing your hair and make-up I had it done at a salon on post and also I went to the PX for them to do my make up at the make-up stations. If you cannot go to the PX then they usually have these types of things at the mall.

Good luck with your wedding planning I hope that your wedding day is as special as ours was.
