The ratings war was one that probably may never be duplicated. It was one of the greatest times in the wrestling industry. The buzz that is here with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff does talk about it being a possibility and that is understandable considering the names behind it if you will. It would be huge to do it again but with technology evolving consistently. With DVR available, the impact may not be as strong without really having a major insight on how the ratings with calculated with it will be something.
WWE whether people enjoy watching it or not draws at a higher level than Raw because of how far established the company is. It will be very difficult and plus this probably is of a different time where probably names of the past may not draw as much as they could have years back. It will have to take a brand new story that has never been done on mainstream TV to really put out a huge dent in the WWE thus giving the edge to TNA. Is it possible that Hogan and Bischoff could pull this off? It remains to be seen. It happened once and it could happen again, that is true.
In 2010, it would have to involve TNA possibly getting another TV show and going for Mondays. Now, Monday has been established as a wrestling night since probably 1993 with Raw but again that's just a guess. Right now, it has just one show on TV being Impact and it is on a Thursday Night, the same night with WWE Superstars, a show that is on an hour before TNA for the record. Could it move to Mondays? Probably not and it doesn't need to either. What they would need is to get some serious advertising to get people to want to watch.
It will take more than names to get people to start watching TNA. The reality is that it is unlikely to really get some old WCW fans to want to turn on TNA or even ECW, and to even go further WWE fans to want to watch. They must establish their own fan base and have done that but needs to expand it further. Sure, names would be nice but there is no guarantee that it will actually cause them to draw more people to want to watch TNA. That is something that must be considered. Truthfully, the Monday Night Wars is a time that may not be easy to duplicate and again with technology evolving, it is no telling on how many ways you can record both shows at once and decide to watch later.
This doesn't mean to say that there isn't any potential in the thought of being able to put something great. It would be incredible to see another version of it once again and then you can have the real winners being the fans. It would be an incredible time to see it one more time or even a younger generation. Hopefully this time around neither company goes down and it becomes one that can last for years. As a matter of fact, it would be nice having options much in the way that exists in the video game industry and of course the restaurants but that's another story for another time.
