Filipinos are very versatile; they are explorers and at the same time adventurers. This makes them one of the most scattered people throughout the world. Filipinos love to see the world. It is their innate nature that when they want something, they surely want to get it or have it.

In the past when the economy of the Philippines has been going well and there was no problem in the way Filipinos live every day, only a few Filipinos ever thought of going overseas. Filipinos are known for being very close to their families.

They don't want to leave their families if situations permit it. But when the Philippine economy has been in tremendous crisis, each Filipino wanted to go somewhere else to seek for better employment and make a good living for their families.

Here are reasons why Filipinos want to go to Canada:

1. The first reason of course is to make a living. It has been always the wrong notion of Filipinos that when they go to other countries especially Canada and the USA, they are going to make big money. Of course, several Filipinos have made good money working in other countries but they prefer to go to Canada where salary is better and the situation is also better.

2. There are many Filipinos who feel alone. Filipinos are very sociable people. They want other Filipinos as their company. With thousands and thousands of Filipinos already in Canada, there is no problem at all to feel alone and be lonely.

3. There are lots of opportunities in Canada. As a not-so populated country, Canada is one of the most sought after countries now in the world. Many Asians go to Canada for opportunities that are not found in their country. Filipinos flock to Canada because of the good money they are making in the country. Canada offers one of the best hourly and monthly pay to Filipinos.

4. There are better working conditions. Although everywhere there are mal-treatments experienced by Filipinos, Canada is a good place for Filipinos because they are treated well and given better opportunities. If in other countries, Filipinos are only hired as domestic helpers and other dirty jobs, Canada is a place where Filipinos could apply with their profession and work just like other Canadians. There is less discrimination in Asians in Canada than in other host countries.

5. It is easier to apply because many jobs are offered to other nationalities. Canada is open to Filipinos applying for jobs. There are more than 400,000 Filipinos in Canada at present according to reports and they are growing in number every year.

There are more reasons for Filipinos in going to Canada but the main reason is to earn money and make living for their families back home better. Because of the worsening economic crisis in the Philippines, even the highest paid skilled workers in the Philippines are applying for a job in Canada because of the better opportunity that the host country offers to Filipinos.
