A hectic life is the norm for many people today. There never seems to be enough time to do everything that needs doing, nor is there any time to simply relax and simply do nothing.
But a hectic lifestyle is a stressful lifestyle and many people simply don't know how to cope with the many stresses placed on them. Unfortunately, the inability to cope leads to many mental and physical problems. Chronic depression, fatigue and lack of sleep take a toll on life and shorten it with disease. Balancing a hectic life is important if you hope to live long and healthy.
The first step is to remember that you have complete control over how you conduct your daily affairs. You do not need to live up to some unreasonable standard the media projects. You do not need to compete against the neighbors or co-workers just to prove superiority. You can only do the job you must do to the best of your abilities. Everyone has choices.
Learn to delegate where necessary. Some tasks are better left to someone who can do the job more efficiently. If you're a parent, you should involve your children in those physical tasks like mowing the lawn, cleaning house or preparing breakfast. Delegating frees up the time you need to tackle what's most important. It also allows you to take more time to relax. Once you learn how to delegate, you'll create a better balance between work and play.
Organizing and scheduling tasks is not something many people do. They waste a great deal of time doing those things that have little relevance to their goals and can be delayed. Balancing life is all about setting priorities. Doing those A1 priorities and leaving the less important tasks until later is an efficient and productive way of scheduling tasks and is less stressful. If you can't get organized, take a course on time management. Organization skills are equally important to the student, housewife, employee or the corporate executive.
Take a break several times during the day. The more hectic the day gets, the more important it is to take a quick breather. That doesn't mean extending coffee and lunch breaks. Just leaning back in an office chair and taking a minute to close the eyes and relax the tense muscles in the neck and back can help re-energize the body. Stress is a chronic problem that gets worse if you're always on the go from morning until night. Taking a moment to relax helps reduce blood pressure.
The more the hectic the pace of life gets, the more people forget to eat properly.
