Poetry: Thanksgiving prayers

by Ted Onulak

Created on: November 06, 2009

Let us join hands around the table

On this Thanksgiving Day

Giving thanks to the Creator

Each in our own way

Let the peace at this table

Spread like ripples in the water

To give comfort and hope

To every mother and father, son and daughter

Let us give thanks to the Spirit

That heals and mends

To all here gathered

And dear absent friends

Lead us to paths

That are wise and kind

Nourish us always

In body and mind

Guide us with patience

Pick us up when we fall

That we may do likewise

With mercy for all

Let us all share

The gifts we receive

To make this world better

Before we must leave

Teach us to think before we do

And then only nobly act

Let us always remember

To keep this good Pact

We humbly give Thanks

For all that we have

To work and to learn

To sing and to laugh

May we look into our hearts

And our prayer be sincere

Let us remember to give thanks

Every day of the year
