Humor: Who started "forward to" on the Internet?

by Vicki Phipps

Created on: November 06, 2009

I don't know for sure who started the, "forward to," issue. Even so, since I believe whomever he or she is should be arrested or at least exposed for abusing the truth, I think I'll forward this article to people like you. In fact, I'm willing to bet that it's safe to assume this whole issue began with the town gossip in Washington DC who has some kind of grudge for a political enemy. The reason I assume this is true is because every forwarded message I receive these days sounds like the town gossip who lives down the street from me, who remains my town's worst enemy. She gossips about everyone and everything.

That's why it seems logical to me that the forwarded-to issue began in Washington D.C. Still, the problem with forwarded based messages is the fact that you never know who the source of the force might be which creates what I've come to describe as, "universal rumors everyone on earth hides behind," which tend to create nothing short of a terrorist attack on societies. This issue gets huge when you consider the fact that the source of this force seems to be online all the time, where gossip and rumors are spread throughout heaven, earth and the universe. I'd call it a curse, but it's worse. Messages forwarded on fear based hate are more often than not just a way to disgrace the USA. After all, we the people of the United States are the only human beings on earth who have the time and energy it takes to be online all the time. Besides, I find that most forwarded messages I receive do more harm than good for me, so why share such stuff with anyone I know or love?

For the sake of debate, let's assume this issue began with the town gossip in Washington DC, but since politically based forwarded messages always sound like the town gossip who lives down the street from me, I'll try to describe the issue all town gossip's create. What they do is to produce the abuse of the truth by gossiping and forwarding rumors based on false information and opinionated views which have nothing to do with the truth.

It's like the time I received a forwarded message from my ex-friend asking me to sign a petition, based on yet another forwarded message she received from someone who believed the president of the United States was just about to pass an act that would tax us on every milkshake we drink, right after he took all our guns away. Okay? She was surprised with my reply, "Well, at least we'd not be so fat with that tax, and besides, we'd have no need to call 9-11 if
