Poetry: Cranberry sauce

by R. Renee Bembry

"Preparing to Eat Cranberry Sauce"

Before I eat cranberry sauce

I must show it just who's the boss

I lay it straight across a plate

Then slice it fore it meets its fate

Its cranberry tint shines moist and bright

Reflecting kitchen's o'erhead light

Before knife slithers through the fruit

My eyes decide the sauce is cute

The way the can embeds its rings

Round cranber's cylinder it brings

Pleasing responses to my skin

Happy goose bumps make eating fun!
