Songs: Unforgiven

Heaven Forfend

I woke up this morning to the sound of a crash.
My phone had danced it self off of the dash.
I fished it from beneath the seat,
it's been so long since anyone called me.

My friend's voice ringing through my head,
sends tears to my eyes before I've heard what he's said.
I say give me now my daily bread,
he lets me know he's gone free instead.

And this man sent my love above,
so I can't sing her my peaceful love.
And maybe there's some god above,
but without her, he's not a god I'm proud of.

When no one cares,
When no one cares,
When no one cares,
it makes it hard to follow the rules!

What a world, what a place, what a time.
Alone with what the drugs left of my mind.
I'm not sure what's really a crime,
when I'm in jail longer for selling a dime.

My left hand holds the gun beneath
the jacket she last touched when she held me.
The walk may be long and cold,
but I've been through worse a hundred fold.

I see him walking down the steps,
my gun flashes, his body convulsed.
police erupt in death overslept,
to fire back was my first impulse.

I don't want your forgiveness
god, just your help
let me send everyone of
them to hell
