"Blood Seeker" is a 1/1 black vampire shaman printed as a common for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Zendikar." This card is an example on how vampires are one of the themes of creatures being promoted in the Zendikar expansion set. So far, the Blood Seeker looks to be a card that should not be printed as a common. It does have the potential to be printed as an uncommon. For a vampire-themed deck or a control deck with black creatures, Blood Seeker seems to be a good card to consider.
The converted mana cost for the Blood Seeker is two. You will need one black mana and one colorless mana to bring Blood Seeker from your hand and onto the battlefield. For what the Blood Seeker can do, the converted mana cost seems to be well worth it. With the right combination of cards, you should be able to get some good play with the Blood Seeker.
What does the Blood Seeker do in the first place?
As long as Blood Seeker is on the battlefield, you can make a target opponent lose one point of life whenever a creature enters the battlefield under his/her control. In this respect, you can think of this as punishing an opponent for summoning a creature onto the battlefield. However, one Blood Seeker probably would not make that much of a difference.
But, you can up to four Blood Seeker cards in a typical deck. If you are using a standard deck, you can put up to four Blood Seeker cards in your deck. Having up to four Blood Seeker cards on the battlefield could make your opponents worry for the most part. With four Blood Seeker cards on the battlefield, you can make an opponent lose up to four points of life whenever s/he brings a creature onto the battlefield. In a few turns, your opponent will be suffering for the most part.
In an extended format, you can combine this with the black enchantment from "Shadowmoor" called "Wound Reflection." When Wound Reflection is on the battlefield, you can double the points of life that your opponents lose. If you have four Blood Seeker cards on the battlefield and your opponent plays a creature, s/he would lose four points of life. With Wound Reflection on the battlefield, it would get doubled to eight points of life.
By casting one creature, your opponent would have lost eight points of life. Overall, Blood Seeker is a pretty good card for a common. Due to what Blood Seeker can do, one could expect these cards to be played in black control decks let alone black pauper decks.
